Homework and What's Happening During the Week of September 13th - 17th, 2010

First, sorry for the late post of this week's activities.

SCR- Since this is our second week with no school on Monday we will be using this week to polish up some of the new classroom activities we are doing in reading. We will work on vocabulary cards, take the vocabulary test for "The School Story," and we will work on choral reading and the Jamestown Reading tests this week also.

AS PREVIOUSLY NOTED: THE ONLY HOMEWORK STUDENTS HAVE FOR READING CLASS IS TO READ 20 MINUTES EACH DAY AND COMPLETE THE BOOK LOG THEY ARE GIVEN ON MONDAY.

Many students are NOT completing these logs and their grade is suffering because of this! Please communicate with your child about their reading log!!

LANGUAGE ARTS- Students will receive a new spelling list on Tuesday this week. Their spelling words can be found in their planner and should be studied nightly. We will take a practice test on Thursday in class with the final GRADED test on Friday.

6th Grade will have a word sort activity to complete for homework on Wednesday and the 7th grade students will also have a spelling worksheet to complete as homework.

We will also be learning about proper e-mail etiquette in class this week and students will need to select from a specified list which teacher they will send a practice e-mail to. We will be expecting our students to use this etiquette any time they send an e-mail as they are representatives of our school when they communicate in this way.

Students in both 6th and 7th grades will also be identifying the steps in the writing process this week as we finish our general review of that process.
