December 6th - December 10th

YOU WILL NEED TO SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE FOR NEW SPELLING LISTS AND DOL FOR THE WEEK!!!


Reading
Monday-  Since we had early dismissal on Friday, we will be using Monday as a catch up day.  We will be taking our vocabulary test from last week's stories today.  


Tuesday-  Students will begin the period by having DEAR and will then be introduced to the vocabulary for our next Read Aloud/Think Aloud story.
Advanced Reading students will be given their new reading assignment that will be due on December 13th.


Wednesday-  This is Read Aloud/Think Aloud day.  Students will be required to complete a "ticket out" that will be used for class on Thursday.  Advanced Readers will continue to work on their assignment.


Thursday-  Student's will work in cooperative groups to complete a dictated writing activity that will summarize the story they heard on Wednesday.


Friday-  The period will begin with DEAR followed by time to transfer vocabulary words onto notecards for study.  THE VOCABULARY TEST WILL BE ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2010.  Many students are running short on pencils, sticky notes, and note cards  PLEASE REMEMBER THIS WHEN GOING TO THE STORE.  THANKS!
Reminder to Advanced Reading Students:  Your current assignment is due on MONDAY.


REMINDER:  COMPLETED READING LOGS ARE DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2010.




LANGUAGE
Monday-  The same is true for Language in that we will use this day as a make-up day for tests.  We will take LAST week's spelling and DOL tests.  Students are going to be given their Weekly Journal Writing Assignment that will be due on Friday.  This week's writing topic is, "Christmas at the White House."  Mrs. Gano has built several link into her wiki page for students to utilize when gathering information.  The paper will be graded on the following items:  Completed graphic organizer, paragraph written on a clean sheet of looseleaf paper, paragraph written in CURSIVE, and attention has been given to capitalization, punctuation, and paragraph form.  STUDENTS MUST HAVE THE NEW SPELLING LIST COPIED FROM THE BLOG INTO THEIR PLANNERS BY THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON TUESDAY.  THEY MUST ALSO HAVE THE NEW DOL COPIED INTO THEIR JOURNALS AND CORRECTED BY THE BEGINNING OF CLASS ON TUESDAY.


Tuesday-  I will check planners for Spelling words and Journals to see that DOL is complete.  We will also be taking the Stem test for weeks 2 and 3 in 6th grade.  We will review expectations for the weekly writing assignment as well.  Next, we will correct DOL and students will be given a spelling assignment.  Time permitting we will continue our work on organizing our writing and paragraph form.  The SPELLING PRETEST will be given tomorrow (Wednesday).


Wednesday-  We will check DOL at the beginning of class followed by our Spelling pretest.  Students that get 100% on their pretest are not required to take the final test on Friday. The 6th graders will work on a page called, "Dissecting Paragraphs."  7th Graders will work on middle and closing paragraph form and begin working on a finished copy that will be due on Friday.


Thursday-  We will correct our third and final day of DOL sentences.  The DOL quiz will be tomorrow.  We will also take the final spelling test and stem test 4 tomorrow.  The weekly journal writing assignment is also due at the beginning of class tomorrow (Friday).


Friday-  We will be taking our final spelling test today as well as our DOL quiz and stem test 4.
